Lets get this show on the road…

That awful title is the best I could come up with for this tour related blog! If you have seen us on one of our tours before you will know that we do our very best to make sure the support acts we bring on the road with us are fantastic. It has always been a goal of ours to make sure that, if you get to one of our tour gigs right at the start, you will be entertained from beginning to end by some amazing acts. And not necessarily acts that you have heard of!

Many bands and labels base their support on having a big ish name with them but we try to just focus on how well the night will flow and everyone getting their monies worth! Previously we have treated you to the likes of Kid Carpet, Gideon Conn, Peggy Sue & the Pirates, Cadence Weapon, I shouted gun, Producers with Computers, polarbear, Riz MC, Poem Inbetween People and probably many more that I can’t even think of!

This time round…. we’re not letting up! I would say this is probably the most excited we have ever been about confirming our support acts! With us on the March tour will be:

B DOLAN:
Our first American support act (Cadence was Canadian…). We had the pleasure of touring with B Dolan in the USA a while back and were amazed, every night, at his stage presence and the delivery of his live show. With his forthcoming album due out on Strange Famous Records in the New Year he will definitely be bringing the noise to the UK (or at least as much of said noise as he can fit in his suitcase and get through customs).

and!

SOUND OF RUM:
If you went to a festival this summer there’s a good chance you will have seen Sound of Rum. Fronted by the frustratingly talented Kate Tempest, Sound of Rum where my personal festival highlight this summer. Infact, their set at Camp Bestival was only beaten by…. their set at Bestival! In my opinion Sound of Rum are THE most exciting new act in the UK. By March they should be well on their way to getting their new album out on Sunday Best Recordings.
I’ve kept it brief so that you can go and discover them for yourselves. And we are giving you plenty of warning so that you can find out why it is pretty much essential to get to each show right at the start!

All that for £12.50 (£14.50 for London)?!?! You had better buy some f@%king merch….

Pip (& dan!)

A message from Scroobius Pip

I helped empty a room in my mums house today and for some reason felt the need to write a blog about it. The amount of forgotten stuff I found was amazing. A suitcase full of t-shirts. The story there being that around 2003/4 (I guess) my dear friend Chris Rees and I started a t-shirt company called Eccentricism. A lot of the designs were based on stencils of mine and some crazy images of his. I stand by the fact that we were the first to do the “Paper, Scissors, Rock” design (with three hands, the third going for the devil horn rock salute). We were listed in Kerrang as one of the top independent t-shirt companies around. I still have the cutting somewhere. In the end we folded the company due to the fact it was very much part time and we couldn’t REALLY see a way to take it up a notch. I guess we were more into painting walls that t-shirts. Don’t know what I’m going to do with the stock though! All hand printed. Good stuff. I think I will have to call a meeting with my co-Director.

Also found A LOT of old spray cans. Kind of made me realize how much I miss spraying walls. Found an old camera with loads of pics from those days on it too so I will have to sling a folder of them up somewhere.

The other most common find was lyric books. Found 4 or 5 with stuff in that I don’t even remember writing. A lot of early versions of stuff that ended up being le sac vs pip tracks to. I plan to sit and read through them soon. Some of it, of course, is really really shitty. Always fun to go through though.

My two BIG finds were (1) the copies of the original “Thou Shalt…” 7” that I thought I had lost and (2) a box of copies of my debut album. Both of which were limited runs of 1000 and I thought the “Thou Shalt..”’s had been stolen so that was a good surprise! Normally when I find copies of “No Commercial Breaks” I sling them on eBay. Doesn’t feel right doing that this time round though as I literally found about 40 of them!

There are numerous projects coming up next year (new le sac vs pip singles & album, a Scroobius Pip book, etc) so I think I will hold on to them and do some kind of give away around the time of those releases. Found a few bits from early shows too. My “Flow Chart” from REAL early on was a good find. Think I have a pic of it on my MySpace but it was good to re-find the original. Fuck Photoshop….its all about prit-stik and scissors!

Anyway, Im very aware that this is an incredibly pointless and poorly structured blog but felt the need to ramble something in more than 140 characters and felt that spreading this over about 40 tweets would just be bad twitter etiquette.
